Mark A Hildesley, P.E. is an American born and educated licensed engineer who specialises in composite product design and manufacturing technologies. Mark has 11 years of fabrication and design experience and has formed Materials OPTIMIZATION to offer companies developing high technology composite products a design, engineering and prototype service which incorporates access to international experience and expertise on a case by case basis.

The Materials OPTIMIZATION team of consultants and staff have more than 40 combined years of design and manufacturing experience including highly developed skills in CAD simulation, which is used in parallel with design research for materials selection and manufacturing process.

Ian Mathews has been involved in composite manufacturing for 25 years in four countries. Ian has worked primarily in marine automotive production and custom fabrication with wide managerial and hands on experience including extensive knowledge of pre preg process, infusion and hand lamination. Ian has been involved with fabrication of racing designs at the highest international level and is available as a consultant for process and fabrication projects or management assessments.

Volker Heydecke is a German aeronautical engineer who has taken New Zealand residency to pursue his interests in aviation design and fabrication. Volker has been working with Materials OPTIMIZATION on several projects and is also developing his own original aircraft design that he is currently fabricating the prototype for trials at the end of 2007.

Ken Kirkland finished his degree in Industrial Design at Rhode Island School of Design and has worked for years in product design, development and 3D modelling. His experience includes working with leading composite fabricators in Rhode Island; Henry Eliot Associates, Steve Clark and Erich Chase. During that time he project managed and built a series of (Bieker 3) International 14 racing skiffs.

Currently completing a Masters of Engineering at Stevens Institute in Hoboken New Jersey, Ken has vast experience in product design, composites and manufacturing. Consulting services including concept/design, prototyping, composite processes, 3D CAD modeling, FEM and CFD simulation, digital manufacturing, R&D, as well as consulting on mainstream, high volume manufacturing processes. Eduardo Sanchez has extensive C.A.D. modelling and composite fabrication experience. Originally from Argentina, Eduardo is a New Zealand resident whose work experience includes Matrix Masts and Styrotech as well as an America’s Cup Syndicate. He is fluent in two languages and is pursuing formal engineering studies in the second half of 2007.

Yann Le Meur undertook a six month placement with Materials OPTIMIZATION in 2006 as the industrial experience conclusion of his Masters of Engineering Specialising in Composite. Now that he has completed his Master’s Degree from the University of Bordeaux, he is working as a consultant in France and is available to pursue European project enquiries in France and Europe.

Jason Ellis is a marine and composite tooling and parts designer. US based with nine years of work experience, Jason has a strong background in 3D C.A.D. and CNC fabrication projects and is very familiar with the tooling needs of composites customers.

Ian Davidson is an Auckland lawyer and business person who has been an advisor to and investor in Materials OPTIMIZATION since its beginning in 2004. Ian’s extensive knowledge of contract law and business practices as well as a great fondness for marine projects has lead him to become a collaborator with the emerging technology and design company that is Materials OPTIMIZATION.

Glen Jeffries is a Designer and advanced C.A.D. user who has assisted Materials OPTIMIZATION with several 3D design projects in the last two years. Glen has many mechanical design projects and a strong racing pedigree that informs all of his project and design work.

Blain Godfrey has been working as a consultant to Mat OP on various projects over the last fourteen months. Blain has experience in automotive and construction fabrication and intends to pursue an engineering design course in 2007. He is currently also studying conversational mandarin.
